Coppermine Cottages Wedding Disco DJ
I jumped at the opportunity to DJ at The Coppermine Cottages in Coniston for the first time. The cottages have been renovated to a high standard and their location in the heart of the Coppermine valley makes a spectacular venue for a wedding disco.
The bride and groom, Gemma and Andrew, live in Birmingham but visit the Lake District regularly to walk the hills. In fact, they discovered the venue by chance, as another wedding was talking place as they walked nearby.
The cottages are about 1 mile outside of Coniston village. The path is very rocky and narrow in places, so treacherous by car and particularly at night. Before the wedding day, there was a real concern that bad weather may cause access problems with the wedding being early March and snow in the forecast. However, Gemma and Andrew awoke to a wonderful sunny day and the snow-capped mountains were a photographers dream.
As sometime happens, the wedding schedule was running a little behind, which meant I got the opportunity to sit and enjoy the speeches, then an entertaining performance from Andrew’s dad who pulled out a guitar and got the marquee rocking to some classic 60s sing-a-longs.
Tables were then quickly re-arranged and I set-up my equipment in record time, and launched straight into the first dance, All of Me by John Legend. At the prior request of the bride and groom, I’d prepared a special mix which cut to the upbeat Tiesto Remix mid-way through to great excitement as guests crowded onto the dance floor.
If you take a moment to watch my short video below, you will see other highlights included Andrew’s friends from the cricket team singing “I don’t like cricket” (10CC – Dreadlock Holiday), and “I would walk 500 miles” which I don’t often play, but it went down really well with this lively crowd.
It was a really enjoyable night and hope to do many more wedding discos at Coppermine Cottages, Coniston (click for full details of their wedding packages).
